Pepper's Stats
Pepper was traded 3 times in
her 10 year career and brought the pennant with her to each new team.
- Racine Belles
(Wisconsin) 1946
- Grand Rapid Chicks
(Michigan) 1948
- Ft Wayne Daises
(Indiana) 1952
Pepper was consistently high in RBI’s and low in strike-outs during her career.
All in all, she was considered a money hitter.
Originally a shortstop, Pepper was 2nd in hitting and 2nd
in fielding in 1945 for Ft. Wayne. Traded to the Bells in 1946, she went behind
the plate, knowing they needed a catcher to win the Championship. Playing
through her injuries, Pepper was a fiery leader on the field who did whatever it
took to win. She wants to be remembered as a consummate team player, while
giving it her all.
Pepper wrote the All American League Song in 1944 and it became the heart and
soul of the League. With her scrap books, her memories and her Baseball
knowledge, Pepper became Penny Marshall’s choice to guide her through the movie
“A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN”.
As a member of the AAGPBL
(All American Girls Professional Baseball League), she played from 1944 to 1953.
